CONDOLENCES > UNDERSTANDING BEREAVEMENT, GRIEF & GRIEVING

Few people will go through life without experiencing the loss of someone important in their lives.  Death is a part of life, it is inevitable and sooner or later we all have to face up to the reality of it. Through grieving we learn how to continue to function in spite of our losses.  How well we manage this seems to affect our quality of life and how we subsequently relate emotionally to others throughout our lives.

Death today is often a taboo subject.  With improved medical knowledge our expectations are that we, and those close to us, will live well into old age.  How painful it is then when a child dies or for children to experience the death of a parent.  The family is changed forever. In a desire not to intrude and also a protection for themselves, relatives and friends may think it is best to say nothing and sidestep the issue.  Many bereaved people are ignored by others and quickly learn that to hide their feelings is more acceptance in society and generally people then feel more comfortable with them.  However, it is by acknowledging the loss and finding ways of accepting the reality that helps the bereaved to express their painful feelings and allows them to grieve for the person who has died.

The "In Memory Of" Group specializes in creating lasting memorials to celebrate the life of loved ones we have lost.  When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.

Whether you have lost a loved one, trying to help a friend or family member who has, or are a funeral director or grief support organization who is looking to assist the bereaved... YOU HAVE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE.

"In Memory Of"  helps families all over the world collect the most priceless gift... THE GIFT OF MEMORIES !   This collection of stories help us celebrate their life as opposed to mourning their loss.  It is amazing how many wonderful things you learn about your loved ones through memories they shared with others.  You may have known your loved one as a mother, father, brother or friend.  Through the stories and memories gathered by "in memory of" you can learn about the ones you've lost through the eyes of all those that loved them.  In memory of will also show you how many peoples lives were affected by your loved one.  You may understand that though your loved one is no longer here, they will forever be alive through the memories they left behind.

Families have told us countless stories "in memory of" has discovered about the ones they love so much, here is one example... <read story>

Flowers wilt in seven days, memories live forever... give the "gift of memories" ...

In 1993 a 5 year old little boy named Ryan Zarlenga passed away suddenly.  His mother, Tina wanted to keep his memory alive, so she created memory sheets on her home computer, which included a series of questions asking family and friends to share memories with her about her son.  She was overwhelmed by the response that she received.  Pre-school children, teachers, friends, family and co-workers of her husband responded to her through her memory sheets.  People she did not even know, but who were touched by the memory of her son, sent her poems, stories and memories she could keep forever.    Those memories helped her, as well as her immediate family, through the early stages of the grieving process. <the complete story>

If you have ever lost a loved one, you know the terrible pain that you feel.  Your heart feels as if it were stomped on, kicked and broken into tiny pieces.  Even those people who are your closest friends begin to treat you as a contagious disease.  Probably the most difficult stage throughout the process of losing a loved one, is the period immediately following the funeral.  The process "in memory of" refers to as "The Calm After The Storm."  Often families experience the fury of activity, making the arrangements, calling relatives, etc... which keeps your mind off of the pain until the last person leaves your home after the services, this is when the calm begins. Let "in memory of" help you through the calm. <get started>
